This is an encoder (yellow) element. It encodes the audio according to the libvorbis reference encoder/decoder.
| ! | Vorbis |
|
Vorbis is a lossy audio comrpession format developed by the Xiph.Org Foundation. It was originaly developed as an improved competitor to MP3 and thus offers similar advantages and encoding options. Vorbis is now mostly deprecated in favor of the Opus codec. |
| E | Cautious configuration recommended |
| The Vorbis element includes many options that require an in-depth understanding of audio encoding to correctly configure. This is especially true of the Expert view options. Caution is advised when configuring these options. For most applications it is enough to set the desired bitrate and leave the other options untouched. |
| ! | Bitrate management engine |
| Vorbis enables variable bitrate through a feature called the Bitrate management engine. This must be enabled to use the options Bitrate, Minimum bitrate and Maximum bitrate. |
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Nominal bitrate | Information field: Shows the current bitrate when the PIPE is active. |
| Bitrate |
Sets the average bitrate in kbit/s. Setting this enables variable bitrate. Entering “-1” disables variable bitrate (i. e. constant bitrate is used) |
| Minimum bitrate |
Sets the minimum bitrate in kbit/s. Entering “-1” disables minimum bitrate. |
| Maximum bitrate |
Sets the maximum bitrate in kbit/s. Entering “-1” disables maximum bitrate. |
| Quality level | Sets the targeted quality level from “-0,1” to “1”. |
| Bitrate management engine | Toggles the bitrate management engine “On” or “Off”. |
| lastMessage | Information field: Shows the last encoding process information. |
