AAC is a lossy digital audio compression codec. It is a very efficient codec that achieves good audio quality at low bitrates. AAC is used in everything from web radio and podcasting to DVB-TS. The conventional AAC encoder is now known as AAC LC (Low Complexity). Newer encoder modes are designed for specific applications or circumstances:
The open source implementation supports LC, HE and HEv2. |
